What is happiness? In fact, the more important question is: What makes you happy?
If
you can answer that one, the rest is simple: Do the things you love and do them as often as
you can!
Well okay, it’s a bit more complex than that. Even though - I’m sure
that’s a big part of what creates happiness and joy.
I love to ask people what
they enjoy doing in life, simply followed by the demand to spend more time doing those
things.
But pretty often I hear the exact same excuse:
“Yeah - I wish
I could, but I don’t have enough time.”
If there is something equal in life – I
would say it is time.
There are 60 minutes in an hour, 24 hours in a day, and 365
days in a year.
We all have the exact same amount of time.
So, the
question is not, if you have the time. The question is, how much of those 24 hours do you
take out for the things you enjoy?
Yes, we all do have different priorities. For
some, it might be more important to watch Netflix after coming home from work and for
others, it’s more important to plan the next adventure to the mountains. Both is totally
fine.
But if you’re complaining that your life is too boring, then you just have
two options:
Either you learn to love your life the way it is or you put in the work that it needs to
see a change.
Number two would mean you have to step out of your comfort zone.
As
I already said: We all have the exact same amount of time.
The only difference is
how we are using this time.
Maybe it also helps if you ask yourself about the
things that do NOT necessarily fulfill you with joy.
-
Do you really need to watch that Netflix show?
- Do you really need to go out for a
beer, again?
- Do you really need to check your Instagram every half an hour?
Find out what’s not as important to you and do less of it.
Eventually, you’ll
have more time for the things that really matter to you.
